About us!

A safe, fun, family friendly facility that is open throughout the year. The R.E. Walter Memorial Aquatic Centre offers a full range of programming from Aquafit, to swim lessons, to Lifeguarding courses. Our Amenities include; a 25 meter 4 lane salt water pool, 10 person hot tub, vertical climbing wall, diving board and a public viewing area. Mens and Ladies change areas have private shower stalls and lockers for your personal belongings.

*lockers: Patrons are asked to bring their own lock to secure their belongings or locks can be rented at the front desk

The R.E.Walter Memorial Aquatic Centre is proud to be affiliated with the Lifesaving Society, Canada’s lifeguarding experts and the Red Cross. All of the lifeguards are trained and certified through the Lifesaving Society and hold themselves to this standard.

The Aquatic Centre offers Red Cross Lessons. Our swim instructors are trained and certified through the Red Cross, they teach and evaluate swimming strokes and related skills.

Swimming lessons are a great outlet to build confidencepride and social skills

Children registered in a level too advanced for their skills may be moved to the appropriate class, or withdraw/refunded. This ensures the quality and safety of the lessons.

Please note that if a swim lesson is missed by the swimmer, there is no makeup or credits for that class.

Are you interested in becoming a Lifeguard?

Training Requirements/Process for a Lifeguard

First Step: 

Contact the Pool Manager to arrange for a FREE skill development Session at 780-926-3662 or email: poolsupervisor@highlevel.ca.

For those wanting to pursue leadership training to become a Lifeguard, whether you were certified and it has been awhile or you don’t have any certifications and are not sure what to expect, this is your opportunity to brush up on your skills and knowledge to make sure you have what it takes to embark on the path to an aquatic career. 

You will work with a certified Water Safety Instructor on skills needed to be a successful Lifeguard. 

After completing the skill development session, and a successful evaluation of your skill set, if you are ready, we will ask you to shadow guard for 4 hours.

Following successful completion of the skills development  session you will be enrolled in a FREE Bronze Medallion Course (20 hrs) and a FREE First Aid Course (16 hrs).

Second Step:

Attend and pass Bronze Medallion and First Aid, Shadow Guard 8 hours, then you can enroll in a FREE Bronze Cross course (20 hrs).

 Third Step

After satisfactory completion of the above course, we will evaluate you and we will ask you to shadow guard for an additional 8 hours.

Ready to move on? Take the exciting step and enroll in National Lifesaving Course (40 hrs), and Water Safety Instructor (32 hrs).

After successful completion, we will formally interview you for a full time PAID position with the Town.

Deadline to start: November 30, 2021 

Free classes are a time-limited offer. Potential candidates must complete the Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross by Dec 31, 2021 to be eligible to continue free training.

***Please note that potential candidates must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination and complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and an Intervention Record Check.****

*Family Swim Policy: All children must be accompanied by an Adult (18 and over) who must be in the water in swim attire. Children under the age of 8 must be actively supervised and within arms reach of the adult at all times.

*Public Swim Policy: 
children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult (18 and over), who is actively supervising in the water within arms’ reach.


Planning a birthday party or private event? Our facility has designated rental times available on Saturday and Sunday’s. Please see current schedule for times.

After hour rentals are available for an additional fee and can be booked through the Aquatic Supervisor.
