About Land Use and Planning
The Land Use and Planning Department is responsible for overall land use planning and development activity in the Town of High Level. The primary goal of the Department is to build an economically and environmentally sustainable community, with an enhanced quality of life that is focused on improving the future of High Level. The Town is a unique community with a diverse population with needs that evolve over time. The Land Use and Planning Department is committed to supporting the community’s vision.
The goals of the Land Use and Planning Department are set out through the Municipal Development Plan, Land Use Bylaw, Policies and Procedures, Inter-Municipal Development Plan and the Community Sustainability Plan.

Temporary Outdoor Patio Program
The Town of High Is Level is supporting local food and drink businesses affected by the recent COVID-19 restrictions (implemented on April 9, 2021) by launching a Temporary Outdoor Patio Program, which allows private parking spaces, public pathways and road right-of-ways to be temporarily converted into outdoor patios.

Annexation - High Level Airport
Town of High Level is proposing to annex lands within Mackenzie County to allow the Town to manage the High Level Airport, which is currently located within Mackenzie County. As part of the ICF negotiations, the Town of High Level and Mackenzie County agreed to the annexation of the above lands.
