Description of the Organization

Chinchaga Adult Learning Council provides non-credit adult programming that is responsive to the need of the communities within the boundaries of the Westerrn Mackenzie County, West of Rocky Lane.

The Council strives to:

• Identify adult education needs and find resources to fill those needs
• Promote the concept of life long learning
• Assist students to prepare for additional and full-time upgrading
• Encourage individual and cooperative programming among volunteers and community organizations
• Liaise with provincial and local agencies in the development and delivery of programs

Program Details

Our Regular Classes Include:

• ELL (English Language Learning) - Beginner and intermediate are offered during the school year for landed immigrants at a nominal fee and are part-time instructed
• Foreign temporary workers may be included or be provided with additional classes (they will be required to cover the cost of the course)
• Adult Literacy Classes - Part-time instruction for upgrading literacy skills (nominal fee)

A variety of one-time short courses are arranged to meet the Community's requests and interests. Check out our monthly newsletter for upcoming courses. Registration is required for all courses.

Practices to Reduce Barriers to Participation

• Waiving or reducing course fees based on financial need or referral from an agency (a request for Reducing or Waiving Form must be completed)
• Planning an accessible course location so learners without transport have access
