Evacuation
Due to the threat of the fire the Town of High Level issued an Evacuation Order for its residents on May 20, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. In six hours, the Town of High Level had successfully evacuated approximately 4,000 people. Residents were evacuated to the communities of Fort Vermillion, La Crete, Grande Prairie, High Prairie, Slave Lake and Peace River.
The evacuation centres with the assistance of volunteers ensured the basic needs of residents were met by providing food, shelter, supplies, and various activities for residents including; games, musical performances and more.

Summit Air from Yellowknife, NWT, delivered donation items to the Fort Vermilion evacuation centre for evacuees affected by the Chuckegg Creek Wildfire.
